In Orbit Asset, a family is a group of intellectual property assets that are linked together. It can be a group of patents, designs and/or trademarks. These families are fully controlled/defined by the user.
In the system, the user has the option to switch back and forth between the asset view and family view depending on which is the most efficient for the user's needs.
Family view is an overview of the coverage and tags associated with the family.
Asset view is a detailed view of a specific family member, including tasks, costs, renewals etc.
When you are in the Portfolio tab, you can also switch from a family to an asset view:
